The Importance of Family Dinner

Time and time again studies have shown that it is important for families to share a meal together. Meals provide a time to reconnect and communicate, for families to slow down and spend quality time together. A study titled, Doing Things Together: Adolescent Health and Family Rituals argues that taking the time to spend one meal together can significantly make a difference in a teen’s life. Teen’s who do not have this quality communication time with their families are more likely to have mental health issues, be they eating disorders, mood disorders, or anxiety disorders. What do you think? Is eating dinner together as important as this study and others want us to believe? How does your family spend dinner time?
