Local lawyers disciplined by state bar

Some suspended for periods, too

San Diego County lawyers have been disciplined by the State Bar of California.

Thomas William Smith of Oceanside was placed on two years of probation and suspended from practice for 30 days for failing to perform legal services for 15 months and failing to respond to a client's inquiries and take appropriate steps in another matter. Debra Roberts Torres-Reyes of Spring Valley was placed on three years of probation for illegally taking advance fees from four clients for loan modification work.

Fabrice John Desbrosses was placed on two years of probation with four months of suspension after being convicted of making annoying phone calls to his ex-wife. Police found evidence of marijuana at his home.

Well, I am happy that there is some tiny bit of anti-corruption work going on to reign in crooked attorneys. Now we need a non-political lawyer-free prosecutorial team, to finish the job of cleaning up the Worlds Most Criminal Profession. (I know, you thought that was a dope dealer or a prostitute.)

John Kitchin: Some of the world most crooked law firms are among the most prestigious. Most of them serve Wall Street. Best, Don Bauder

That's why you had to move to Colorado. Some time I will tell you about two attempts on my life that trace to men hired by the San Diego Police.

John Kitchin: Stating publicly that Wall Street law firms serve criminals (and organized crime) was not the reason I moved to Colorado. They have enough money to send someone here to put me in cement boots. I've had several death threats through the years, and I don't think any came indirectly from a Wall Street law firm, although I suspected one may have come from a smaller law firm. Best, Don Bauder
