Lt. Dan Band To Play Benefit For Camp Pendleton Marine

Gary Sinise, star of "CSI-New York" and bass player for the Lt. Dan Band, is getting the band together for a March 1 benefit show in Temecula's Town Square Plaza.

On Tuesday, Sinise appeared at the Temecula city council meeting asking for permission to hold the concert. The proceeds will help pay to build a new "smart home" for Marine Corporal Juan Dominguez, who lost both legs and an arm from a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan.

“I’m here to ask this city council if we can have permission to go out in front of this building and do a rock show out there for Juan Dominguez who sacrificed two legs and an arm for this country,” Sinise told city councilmembers.

Sinise’s band, The Lt. Dan Band, named for the misanthropic wounded Vietnam vet he played in Forrest Gump, has played similar benefit shows for the troops.

This year The Gary Sinise Foundation in conjunction with the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation hope to build a total of eleven smart homes for amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the first of which will be for Cpl. Dominguez who was stationed in Camp Pendleton and is recovering at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
