Sunday Bargains at 3rd Corner, and other news

Through April, three-course Sunday dinners are just $25. Owner Ed Moore just opened at third branch in Palm Desert, which I'm sure needs something like this.

Nathan Coulon is departing the Quarter Kitchen to open a branch of True Kitchen in Newport Beach. The food is based on the healthy principles espoused by Dr. Andrew Weill. Executive chef for the newish chain, based in Phoenix, is our own much-missed Michael Stebner, ex of Region and 910.

Been wondering who'll take over the space vacated by La Vache? It's Arrividerci. They've also opened a North Park branch called Il Postino (after the movie). Meanwhile, restaurateur Philippe Beltran, who had grand plans for two new restaurants in Mission Valley and Point Loma pre-recession, has downscaled his hopes -- looks like he'll open a pizzeria on Adams Avenue. Guess he won't get to be the French David Cohn just yet.

Oops, I meant "Mission Hills," not "Mission Valley." -- NW
