Icahn, Other Big Shareholders Want Amylin's Chairman Cook to Step Down

Billionaire corporate raider Carl Icahn today (April 15) called for the chairman of biotech Amylin Pharmaceuticals to step down. Icahn owns about 9.43% of Amylin. Eastbourne Capital owns 12.5%. Icahn claims that Eastbourne and Howard (Ted) Greene, a co-founder of the company who resigned recently after the company excluded him from the slate of board members, also believe that Cook should go. Icahn and Eastbourne have put up separate five-person slates for the board. Icahn charges that Cook, "like an 'imperial' chairman," has taken steps to entrench himself. Amylin stock is up 3.8% to $10.38 this morning.
