My New Goat-To (Pizza) Place

It was the three ladies that led me to this moment of bliss.

I’d just kinda sidled into Luigi Agostini’s original Pizzeria Luigi (1137 25th Street, 619-233-3309)...

... to catch a whiff of pizza, around nine.

And there they were. Lynn, Angelica, and Nhu, humming and hawing over the display cabinet of pizzas by the slice.

Fifteen to choose from.

The Mona Lisa (pepperoni)

They were at the end of a long day and needed some comfort food. Boy, did they choose the right spot.

No problem watching your pizza get put together

They went for the Mona Lisa (pepperoni), the Leonardo (pesto, parmesan, mozzarella), and the Raffaello (veggies, olives, feta, but I think they had some sausage in there, too). Basically $2.75 each.

I go for a slice of Raffaelo, plus something else with meatballs, ricotta, pepperoni, and spinach. Both scrumbo. Of course you probably know that. Ever since Guy Fieri, Food Network, turned up, they get swamped here.

I’ve been the only guy out of this loop? No mas. TV success doesn’t seem to have spoiled them. What strikes me is the richness of the toppings on that thin crust. And the feta? I’m a goat kinda guy, and goats eat anything, but this feta combo really hits pleasure central.

Final pleasure: taking it out to this cool patio.

Haven’t tried their North Park spot yet (2121 El Cajon Boulevard, 619-294-9417).
