Not Leaving on an Airplane

The guys suing the airlines for speaking Arabic while boarding an airplane.

Well, last blog the topic of speaking different languages in this country came up.

And, I have a friend from Iran, and her and I got into a little debate.

It's in regards to those guys that did some work at Camp Pendleton. And, while boarding a plane, some woman freaked out because they were speaking Arabic. Everyone on the plane was held over a day. The seven guys are now suing.

So, here's the thing. I have no problem with people speaking in their native tongue, if that is what is more comfortable to them. But, if you are a Middle Eastern, and you don't realize that after 9/11, a few idiots at the airports might look at you different, and you should go out of your way to smile, be friendly, and fit in.

There was that younger guy that wore a shirt to the airport, and was asked to change it, because of the writing. Well, guess what? If people are uncomfortable now in airports, your shoes come off. Your shirt might have to come off. Pretty soon, we might see signs "no shirt, no shoes, and you'll get service."

I was dating a woman that went to Hawaii for her brothers funeral. She was to fly back on 9/11. Flights were delayed, and it was a few days later I picked her up at the airport. The third guy off the plane was tall, had a huge beard and turban. Everyone around look at him strange. I smiled at him. He merely looked down. I felt bad for the dude. He probably felt so awkward, on that entire flight, and now getting off the plane, with everyone staring or whispering.

But guess what? If these seven guys feel like this is worthy of a lawsuit, and they feel like they were "harmed" or lost something "financial" (those are the reasons I've been told by lawyers, that warrant lawsuits), I just don't see how that's possible.

And, I heard that one of them talked about how they are dealing with all this humiliation now that this happened. From who? Nobody knew who these guys were, until they made a big stink with this lawsuit. It sounds like they created their own problems.
