Is San Diego a haven for Homeless?

I just learned that SDPD transferred Captain Ball from Central Division. I wonder if the replacement will be proactive and have community meetings.

Below is a copy of the e-mail I just sent out. The homeless situation needs to be addressed NOW.

"So, as an 11 year resident of downtown San Diego, what are my rights? I live at 9th & F, facing west. The homeless now occupy sidewalks in the area of 8th, Broadway, 9th, 10th, E, F, & G.

In the past few months I have been accosted, badgered about not giving them money, followed, awakened at all hours by loud arguments, called all sorts of names when they assume there is food in a bag I am carrying, all by this "new crop" of homeless.

Tonight there has been arguing for several hours. There was a police car that stopped a little while ago and talked to the woman who was doing most of the loud arguing. She just started up again & I continue to get angry.

This has become a big issue and it greatly affects the RESIDENTS (those of us who pay rent or mortgages). I used to have no problems walking around here day or night. Now, I am just plain afraid. It isn't right.

Something needs to be done, NOW. Not 4 years from now (Mr. Faulconer said it would be that long to build a permanent shelter.)

PLEASE, take some action, do something.

I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Here is some information from various sources:

If fall fruit held a 'most doused in pesticides' contest, Apples would win.

Food manufacturers think you're stupid and their marketing strategies rely on it.

Scallops are a great source of magnesium & potassium.

Celery (reputed to be all crunch & no nutrition) contains stealth nutrients that heal.

Microwave popcorn bags contain PFOA, a detergent-like material that has been proven to cause cancer in rats & there is some worry that levels in humans could approach the amounts shown to cause cancer. The best part is that the EPA accepted a voluntary agreement by the manufacturers to phase out use of PFOA by 2015. By then millions more bags of popcorn will be sold. I know I am happy to have the EPA protecting us, aren't you?

From Dilbert: "If I do less of those things it will reduce the quality of my life below the point at which good hygiene has any utility." This should be followed by the befuddled look of the AFLAC duck!!
