Krissy Fernandez was born in Baguio City, Philippines where she was raised until the age of six, when her family moved to Guam. She spent most of her days doodling, daydreaming, and chasing cats. Although she lived in a tranquil, sandy paradise, she was always in search of personal enrichment through independency and blind exploration. As the urge to venture the world grew stronger upon completing high school in 2004, she booked a flight to San Diego without hesitation (or money in the bank afterwards) to see where life would take her.
Krissy shares her experiences and invites you on her journey through her art. Her hazy, enigmatic visual narratives can be viewed as self-portraits as it is personal stories and life lessons that are reflected on, therefore producing an intimate documentation of her life. Each painting provides an opportunity to confront fears and dissect issues, and ultimately grow in the process. Nostalgia, whether comforting or tormenting, and current engagements, which thrive on the subtle humor and ironies of life, are all called upon as inspiration for her art.
Krissy still resides in sunny San Diego, where she continually practices multiple art forms. Currently, she is the Principle Fashion Photographer for MahalStyle.com while showcasing her oil and digital paintings in numerous exhibits all over Southern California. She plans to someday relocate to Europe where there are infinitely more cats to chase.
She also enjoys writing in 3rd person.
