Chula Vista school hurries to get ready for Arne Duncan
Did anyone look to see if there was an Alliant University banner flying at CPM? From the astronomical cost of its tuition, it must be one of the best universities in the country!— September 8, 2013 6:50 a.m.
Sweetwater underwriters reel in the big one — a grand jury indictment
Read the new article in the Star news written by Alliant's president where he defends his college's astronomical cost for a year of college. If students were getting a much better education for this enormous cost, that would make sense. Then he tries to say that financial aid and grants will pay for your tuition. Where does government get the money to pay financial aid? Out of our paychecks! Go figure!— September 2, 2013 8:01 a.m.
Sweetwater underwriters reel in the big one — a grand jury indictment
90,000 dollars is a lot for t-shirts! The ASB students have to approve each expenditure. Someone needs to get an accounting of how this money was spent. There should be a paper trail for the approvals and the checks.— August 31, 2013 1:37 p.m.
Alliant University leaves Sweetwater school district property in National City…sets up at Southwestern College?
I want to know more about the IPad issue. I know that there is definitely an issue with bandwidth. Not enough bandwidth to do the job of filtering the content on the IPads is what I am hearing. Maybe this initiative will fail? Or maybe IPads will be issued to teachers as class sets? I just want technology to work for our students.— August 11, 2013 5:37 p.m.

You have to give Brand credit for being creative. This is just another one of his ideas that has turned sour. He wanted the gardeners to be teams instead of having each site have a gardener - that was found to be a bad idea. He wanted a principal to run two schools - didn't work. The IPad initiative is working better this year than last but is still a question mark. But...there is money for IPads, training, technicians IPad stands, Jupiter grades and Canvas but not enough money for employee raises (except for Brand's raises of course!). Classes are full and there is no money to replace desktop computers or blown out LCD projectors. It looks to me like he is running rampant with our district with the blind approval of the board. Until the board changes, he can get anything he wants including another salary increase. Do we know how much he makes now? Can we find out?— August 11, 2013 12:24 p.m.
Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
As a community member and parent this all makes me very sad. Money that should be used in the classroom wasted on lawyer fees and dinners for the board members. Is someone watching the charges on the new credit card? I was told that my daughter's school had no money for paper at the end of the school year. I call that misplaced priorities. We can't wait to clean up this district - it has gone on too long.— June 19, 2013 12:41 p.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
Just as a reminder...the board members under Gandara were enjoying their dinners, tickets, wine with the contractors while also being treated to dinners and lunches on the district credit card. During the Gandara reign, they did not have high grocery bills, that is for sure.— June 11, 2013 4:19 p.m.
