Oceanside replaces Huntington Beach
HB should be renamed Deranged MAGAtown.— August 8, 2021 8:46 a.m.
San Diego County's war over Roundup
Weed-eaters burn fossil fuels. The two-cycle engines are particularly polluting, and make a lot of noise.— March 3, 2020 1:48 p.m.
Is small-batch bread necessarily good?
Not sure how big their batches are but Prager Brothers in Carlsbad makes some pretty awesome bread.— January 17, 2018 6:47 p.m.
Ugly cyclist-car encounter in Kensington
I'm not a cyclist, but it pisses me off when I see idiots who text while they're "driving." You can tell them from a long way away...generally not paying attention to the road - weaving or driving almost out of their lane, going 5 to 10 mph slower than the traffic on surface roads and, when you get close to them, you see they're looking down and not watching the road. Probably as dangerous as driving drunk and I'm often temped to pull up next to them, roll down my window and yell at them to put down the phone and drive their f**cking car.— August 5, 2017 4:53 p.m.
Signs of Tijuana sewage flow a long time ago
Build a wall?— February 28, 2017 2:51 p.m.
Can't you smell that smell in Ocean Beach?
They're probably smelling petrichor.— December 22, 2016 6:32 p.m.
Solar-power financing could spell trouble
We had a PV system installed about five years ago, financed with a HELOC, and have not regretted it. We have a very low interest rate, and the it's deductible. We had some other work done a couple of years ago by a HERO contractor, not really very energy related, and now our property taxes are doubled until it's paid off. We're now on their customer list and periodically we get inundated with marketing calls for great deals on new windows, which we do not want. We went into this with our eyes open but would not do it again in the same circumstances.— November 16, 2016 9:27 a.m.
Issa sues Applegate
Darrell Issa accusing ANYBODY of defamation is pretty damned ironic. He's spent most of his political career perfecting the art of defamation.— November 10, 2016 2:10 p.m.
Lilac Hills opponents mum on money source
Measure B apparently losing big. Some faith in humanity restored.— November 9, 2016 10:06 a.m.
Lilac Hills opponents mum on money source
You're absolutely correct. I was being flip with that statement. Anybody in San Diego County should be bothered by this and, if it happens in North County, they will feel empowered to do the same anywhere else where there's undeveloped land. I was thinking back to the Gregory Canyon Landfill, an idea even worse than Lilac Hills, which was approved by a County-wide ballot. Luckily it still hasn't been built but there are recent rumors that it's being re-activated.— November 4, 2016 4:39 p.m.
