Cabrillo National Monument

  • 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego, CA 92106 | Directions
  • 619-557-5450 | Website

Located at the very tip of Point Loma, the monument commands a breathtaking panoramic view of the harbor, the Point Loma kelp forest, and the open Pacific stretching out to the west. During gray whale migration, lucky viewers may be able to spot the marine titans from high above the waterline. The national monument area also houses the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, which is one of the West Coast’s original such fixtures. Nature experiences abound at Cabrillo as well, with a two-mile hiking trail, and unprecedented access to the tide pools of the rocky intertidal zone where the land meets the sea on the western edge of Point Loma. Cabrillo National Monument is open 364 days a year, from 9-5, and it costs $5 to drive in.
