Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House

Museum is said to be the oldest surviving structure in the New Town area of downtown San Diego. The house is a well-preserved example of a pre-framed lumber "salt box" family home, shipped from the East Coast to California by boat around Cape Horn in 1850.

Currently on view: Buildings of the Gaslamp: 19th Century to Now. Exhibit highlights old photographs of many of the original buildings of the District, and juxtaposes them with either how they appear now or what has replaced them over the years. Admission to the exhibit is free. Call the museum for information and hours: 619-233-4692.
