Without Walls (Wow) Festival
The La Jolla Playhouse presents a site-based work at Liberty Station that showcases multiple performances by local, national and international artists (including a selection of family-friendly offerings), occurring simultaneously throughout the weekend. Productions include San Diego Ballet’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as children’s activities like Polyglot Theatre’s large, lightweight boats, set up for adventure to safe harbor. On Saturday, a silent disco allows participants to don a pair of glowing headphones and dance through the North Promenade without ever making a peep.

See staged performances of works by Edgar Allan Poe and other authors of the phantasmic. Stories include “The Pit and the Pendulum,” in which a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition is sentenced to death and tormented; “Berenice,” a short horror story following a man named Egaeus who is preparing to marry his cousin Berenice; “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the story of Ichabod Crane; and “The Black Cat,” in which a murderer conceals his crime and believes himself unassailable, but who finds himself impelled by a nagging reminder of his guilt.

Guided Hike Of Homestead Trail
Join the San Diego River Park Foundation for a free guided hike through Eagle Peak Ranch, a 414-acre open-space preserve. Hikers explore the Homestead Trail & USFS Land Ridge Trail. This difficult, 2.5 mile hike travels through oak woodland and chaparral habitats with an elevation change of 537 ft. Bring water, hiking shoes, food, and sun protection. Poison oak is present, so long pants are recommended.

Alt-jazz band Kilikili, a quintet led by composer and vocalist Lexi Pulido (Baby Bushka), will debut their first album, Agency. “The music is harmonically colorful, theatrical, and deeply poetic,” says Pulido, “covering themes of feminism, trauma, existential absurdity, and the emotional abstract.” The bill includes Jux Trio.
