On my most recent shopping trip to La Jolla last week, I spotted Kara, wearing an outfit that made me rejoice over the changing seasons. Whenever I hear the word “fall,” I immediately associate it with burnt orange, chestnut brown, and cool beige. These were the exact colors on Kara’s cozy oversized sweater.
As I gushed over her soft crewneck, Kara explained that she bought it for $30 from an online boutique called ShayButter. I asked her what her favorite fall trend was, and she quickly responded, “Cozy sweaters. I love big, chunky statement sweaters for fall. They are my favorite.”
She added, “I have a collection in my closet that have just been waiting for me.” To complete the look, she wore jeans that were distressed at the ankle from Urban Outfitters ($60), a practical brown leather purse from Nordstrom Rack ($20), and suede camel shoes from Anthropologie ($25).
I could not let Kara go without asking about her long blonde locks. She was wearing her hair up in a ponytail, but I could tell from a mile away that her hair was strong and healthy. I asked her to spill her secret. Kara dished, “I have been growing my hair for the past six years. I figured out that if you want to have long, healthy hair, the key is to not touch it. I used to have very damaged hair in high school, but I decided to leave it alone. If anyone is looking to grow it out, just know that it is a process. Throw it in a braid and let those locks grow! Biotin works very well too, as well as regular trims! But other than that, leave off the hot tools and find a good hairstylist.”
I’ve always thought the way you style your hair plays a significant part when it comes to your overall look. Kara agreed, “I usually style my hair to fit my outfit of choice whether it be down, wavy, curled, or in some sort of crazy braid. My hair really brings my outfits together! I’m always looking at new ways to style it with my outfits.”
