Jazz Fest & Swing Extravaganza
San Diego Jazz Fest runs over five days and includes more than two dozen traditional jazz, Dixieland, ragtime, swing, and rockabilly bands. Dancing and lessons take place in large concert rooms with double dance floors plus smaller listening rooms. Headliners are Dan Levinson, Molly Ryan, and John Royen, along with locals Gino & the Lone Gunmen, Mad Hat Hucksters, Sue Palmer, and the High Society Jazz Band.

Hike the Ramona Grasslands

Walk off some Thanksgiving dinner by hiking the Ramona Grasslands Preserve with the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy. The easy-to-moderate trail is 3.5 miles long with a 350-foot elevation gain. The preserve contains a section of Santa Maria Creek, which supports sensitive habitats and unique plant and animal species. Special-status species are San Diego thornmint and spreading navarretia. If you’re lucky, you may scout a mountain lion, bobcat, or long-tailed weasel.

Skating, Santa, and S’mores
Skate under the twinkling palms, take a ride on the Ferris wheel and carousel, and tell stories with Santa and friends by the 25-foot tree. Enjoy fireside s’mores and refreshments in the Moët & Chandon Champagne Garden.

This play takes place in an Irish country house in the 1950s. A tight-knit Irish family turns upside down when a handsome stranger comes into their lives. Wedding plans are changed. A ghost appears.

Sono Fest Chili Cook-Off
Forty restaurants face off to crown the best pot of chili in the city. This festival draws restaurants and breweries from South Park, North Park, and other neighborhoods. Past participants include Waypoint Public, Kindred, and Uptown Tavern. Blocks of bubbling chili vats are complemented by an beer and wine garden of local breweries such as Modern Times Beer, North Park Beer Co., and Societe Brewing Company. A holiday market includes 30 local handmade craft vendors, live music on three stages, a food truck court, and a kids play zone.
