The Tannahill Weavers are celebrating their golden anniversary. The Scottish band has made around a dozen albums and has, over the years, included over two dozen members. The group’s current incarnation recently released their first full-length since 2006, Òrach (Gaelic for “Golden”). The support tour features a multi-instrumentalist quartet playing bagpipes, smallpipes, tin whistles, flutes, cellos, fiddles, violas, and Celtic bodhrán percussion.

The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) is calling all surf enthusiasts to grab their vintage surfboards and gather for a nostalgic competition at the north side of Crystal Pier. The first heat paddle-out is at 8:15 am. All contestants must surf on 1969 or older longboards, nine feet or longer, with no leash.

Culinary Historians of San Diego will feature Martin Lindsay, who will celebrate the local history of Polynesian pop culture, tiki restaurants, bars, and cuisine. His presentation will include stories, photos, menus, and memorabilia from San Diego and Tijuana, 1928-2018. Martin Lindsay, AIGA, is an art director, local historian, and freelance writer who blogs about food and history. Lindsay was also a contributor to Tim Ferriss’ bestseller The 4-Hour Chef, and is author of the upcoming book, Classic San Diego: Tasty Bites from the History of America’s Finest City.

Free flycasting clinic at Lake Murray on Sunday mornings. Open to beginning and experienced fly fishers, ages 16 and up. Casting instructors will be onsite. San Diego Fly Fishing Club has rods and reels for those participants who lack gear. Meet up by the gazebo east of the boat ramp.
