This world premiere narrows in on a family gathering on New Year’s Eve. It seemed normal at the time – politically incorrect banter, splashing each other in the pool. But “relationships grew and fractured in moments that became family legend.” Unfolding backwards from 2017 to 2000, The Year to Come shows how the promise of future is shaped by lens of the past.

When: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 8 pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7:30 pm. Through December 30.

Where: Mandell Weiss Theatre, 2910 La Jolla Village Dr, La Jolla. lajollaplayhouse.org
