The bill includes Dana Louise & the Glorious Birds.

Peace at Noon

Past Event

Bach Collegium: Bach at Noon - Peace

Bach Collegium in residence at All Souls in Point Loma is an ensemble devoted to music from the sixteenth to eighteenth century. The Peace program for April 18 includes Robert Schumann’s Fugue on BACH no. 1 Op. 60, G.F. Handel’s Selections from Neun Deutsche Arien, Johann Rosenmüller’s Sonata a 2 in g minor, J.S. Bach’s Der Friede sei mit dir BWV 158. Ruben Valenzuela, the Collegium’s founder, says these pieces reflect the Eastertide season. “Cantata 158 was likely written as a Cantata for the 3rd day of Easter. Moreover, the cantata concludes with the famous Easter chorale ‘Christ lag in Todesbanden’ (the tune) though set to a different Easter text.... the Handel arias speak of nature and the beauty of creation.”
