Celebrating the launch of San Diego online vendor SoKo Cannabis Creations with a runway fashion show by Alexandra Marie, B.FFRENCH, and SoKo, a cannabis mixer with Southern California businesses, and music by DJ Mancat. Cannabis products will not be sold or sampled. SoKo Cannabis is a brand and lifestyle manufacturing company that wholesales cannabis health and wellness products and hemp-based clothing.

The fifth season begins on June 22 and runs through July 2. In between there will be at least 100 entries at 17 venues, including theater, dance, performance art, and monologues from San Diego and around the world. You’ll never get to all of them!

Join 70,000 of your neighbors for an oceanfront chili cook-off, five stages of continuous music and entertainment, a community mural project, Artists’ Alley, carnival rides and games, food and vendor booths, and a beachside beer garden. The Hodad’s burger-eating competition is your chance to get on the Hodad’s Wall of Fame. The chili competition features more than two dozen tastings from amateur and restaurant entrants competing for the titles of Hottest Chili, Judges’ Award, and, the grand prize, People’s Choice Award. Tastings can be purchased for $2 per chili entry, or you can buy a master ticket to try every recipe for $20. Free trolley services run from the Knights of Columbus parking lot on Bacon Street between W. Point Loma Boulevard and Voltaire Street and the parking lot at the intersection of Sea World Drive and Pacific Coast Highway from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The 13th-annual event includes a surf contest, music performances, and a Nerf-surf jousting exposition between heats. This year they welcome back the Rob Machado Bro Junior Surf Contest. Open to youngsters ages 16 and under, the contest places a premium on the competitor who seems to be having the most fun. Kids sign up at the Solana Beach Surf Ride location, compete on one of Rob Machado’s boards, and then enjoy the day’s festivities. Music from Switchfoot, an acoustic set with Lifehouse, Adam Friedman, and Jamtown featuring Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love, and Cisco Adler. Event raises funds for local youth organizations.

The fourth-annual event features island reggae music, Polynesian dancers, island foods, and a vendor village. Global roots reggae band Katchafire headlines this year, “hailing from the mighty H-Town (Hamilton), New Zealand.” With the Māori Reggae band, Spawnbreezie, Kimie, Lea Love, and Kush County. Cultural dancing from Hiva Katoa and Tapou Samoa. A vendor village showcases Islander–inspired merchandise, art, and apparel. Food from the Islands includes Spam musubi and kalua pork. Blankets and lawn chairs welcome. Hosted by Prime Motivation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, plus Sycuan Casino, Tatau Brand, Selah Intl., Leilani’s Attic, Imagine Media, Garnish, and Kona Brewing.
SOL FIRE REVOLUTION
MUSIC FEST. This year’s two-day Summer Solstice Celebration on Palomar Mountain offers camping, vendors, and live music from Denver drum ’n’ space rockers Quantum Beings of the Miraculous. Described as “psychedelic sonic alchemists blending world fusion with cosmic jazz,” their stage act comes with belly dancers and a ’60s-style light show. With Mimi Zulu, the Brothers Burns (featuring Chill Clinton), Gaby & La Buena Onda, XIV, and many others. On Sunday there is a Sacred Sound Journey. All-ages and dog-friendly. This one seems “super casual.” Tickets are $70 (includes camping).
