San Diego State University President Elliot Hirshman spoke out today against protestors who have been calling for his resignation ever since he failed to strongly condemn a series of fliers distributed on campus by the conservative speaker David Horowitz, who had been invited by the campus’s Republican Club.
The fliers named specific students and accused them of supporting an allegedly terrorist organization in Palestine.
Now, he seems to have had a change of heart, at least regarding the dissemination of fliers, and is calling for the resignation of any students involved in the distribution of fliers denouncing his presidency.
“I understand that people are upset,” said Hirshman, “But, trust me, I am more upset than they are. We as a university community must stand up to those who use their bodies to force their ideas on others, or who seek to tear down the very institution that is providing them with an education. L’académie, c’est moi!"
