On June 24 at 2:47 p.m., a Caucasian male walked into My Sister’s Closet resale and consignment clothing store in La Jolla and stole the cash donation box earmarked for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The Plexiglas box probably contained around $100 in customer-donated coins and bills.

Staff members chased the thief but were unable to catch him. In the store’s parking lot, manager Melissa said she yelled at the guy while he was only 20 feet away from her. It startled him.

“It appears he emptied his backpack on the side of our store, things like his board shorts and T-shirts, before coming in the store,” said Melissa. “He probably wanted to have someplace to put the box in his backpack.” When Melissa yelled, he dropped some of his personal clothing that he had just picked up.

The man, who rode away on a bicycle, is described as six feet tall, about 180 pounds, late 30s or early 40s, an "older surfer type."

Melissa knows he did not shoplift the dropped clothing. “These are not the type of clothes we would sell in our store,” she joked.

The San Diego Police Department was called but had not shown up by 5:00 p.m. Melissa said they were given a case number as the department took a brief report over the phone. The store’s security camera footage, which shows a clear image of the perpetrator, will be turned over to the police.

John Van Zante, spokesperson for Rancho Coastal Humane Society, said, “A hundred dollars doesn’t sound like much, but that would have supported three or four spay or neuter operations."

The Arizona-based boutique has three local stores: the robbed one at 8610 Genesee Avenue in La Jolla, and two stores in Encinitas — one a companion men’s clothing consignment store named Well Suited.

Each year, the three stores say they give thousands of dollars in customer donations to Rancho Coastal. Melissa also pointed out that any unsold consignment clothing gets donated to the humane society’s thrift store

“We send them two large rolling bins each week, usually filled with 500 to 1000 pounds of clothing.”

May a vicious police dog chase him, and then bite him in the butt! That would be his just reward. The "POS" above his head is right; he's a Piece Of Sh**.

MisterMan should know how to feed himself by now.
