From Portland, shoegaze chanteuse Charlie Hilton takes the Hideout stage on Sunday.

Sunday 21
Charlie Hilton of Portland band Blouse is at the Hideout Sunday night with Dum Dum Girl Sandra Vu’s SISU. Both ladies specialize in narcotic pop — shoegaze in a haze of lush looping vocals. Hilton’s addicting solo debut, Palana, comes with credits to Herman Hesse and Mac DeMarco. Sounding like Nico fronting the United States of America, lead single “Pony” is the sampler that’ll hook you. You’ve been warned.... Else on Sunday: Greyboy’s “next generation power trio” Taurus Authority join the Krass Brothers at Whistle Stop...Casbah hosts a Help Bring Gary [Heffern] Home benefit, featuring the Farmers, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Juju Satori, Post Black Tango, Dave Dick, and Harpo...while famous sons Shooter Jennings (Waylon) and Lukas Nelson (Willie) split a country-fried bill at Belly Up.

Monday 22
The warm, fuzzy guitars and honey-drip vocals of Austin-based shoegaze group Ringo Deathstarr recall genre greats My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus & Mary Chain, but when Deathstarr explodes into noise-pop, all bets are off. Ringo Deathstarr, touring in support of their “luxuriously heavy, sweetly ghostly” (The Guardian) Pure Mood, takes the stage at Soda Bar Monday night after Future Death, Expert Alterations, and Smoke Screens.... Roger and Sara Morrison celebrate another anniversary Casbah style — they got married there nine years ago — with music by the Anomaly, Listening to Rocks, and Fictitious Dishes. This year, Sara emails, “they have added an art show to showcase art inspired by love and music”...while up in North Park Tori Roze spills her Hot Mess all over Bar Pink’s Soultry Monday stage.

Tuesday 23
Brick by Brick’s serving up some death-metal parmigiana on Tuesday night, as Rome, Italy’s Fleshgod Apocalypse (that has to be a bad translation) takes the Bay Park stage after a whole bunch of hard-rockers, including Carach Angren, Abigail Williams, Mortuus Terror, Theosis, and Helsott.... Also on Tuesday, L.A. alt-pop trio Distant Cousins play Casbah with their soulful solo-rolling tourmate Rivvrs...while local rock writer Jeff Terich of CityBeat and Treblezine brings his goth-punk band Blood Ponies to the Merrow stage for this week’s Radio Halloran showcase. Subtropics and Hexa are also on the bill.

Boston's soul-pop four-piece Lake Street Dive plays the Observatory on Wednesday.

Wednesday 24
“Sounds like Llewyn Davis’s favorite pop group...” Boston’s Lake Street Dive is a blue-eyed soul quartet whose pop stylings are informed by jazz (they met while studying at the New England Conservatory of Music) and indie pop, and this year’s Side Pony sides are the band’s best yet. Give it a listen (esp. “I Don’t Care About You”) at lakestreetdive.com, and we’ll see you at the Observatory North Park Wednesday night. Houston’s ten-piece soul collective the Suffers set it up.... Around town Wednesday night: with multiple Juno awards to its credit, the 20-year-strong Canada band Metric is touring North America in support of last year’s Billboard-charting new-wave record Pagans in Vegas. The always-entertaining Emily Haines (Broken Social Scene) brings her band to House of Blues...while Dave Insurgent’s 35-year-strong East Coast hardcore quartet Reagan Youth’s at Brick by Brick with like-minded locals Authentic Sellout, the Yucks, and Revolt-Chix...and Soda Bar sets up Brooklyn-based duo Beacon (“R&B’s melody and sexuality, and electronic music’s complexity and bass-heavy sound”) with Portland electronic producer Natasha Kmeto.
