Wednesday 27
Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos begins his busy night at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) by hosting the Young Lions Series at 6:30 p.m. before switching over to lead the jam session from 8:30 to 11. All ages, no cover, musicians bring your instruments… the Jazz 88 Blues Jam happens at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) led by guitarist Mark Augustin and hosted by J. Otis Williams from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Free and family friendly.

Thursday 28
Drummer Nathan Hubbard leads the Skeleton Key Trio with Harley Magsino and Ed Kornhauser for the Palomar College Concert Hour (1140 West Mission Road) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Free!

Friday 29
Trumpeter Curtis Taylor leads a trio with Jason Shattil and Dean Hulett for the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) at 5:30 p.m. No cover, no minimum, validated parking… Bassist Kyle Motl plays a solo recital at Conrad Prebys Concert Hall (9500 Gilman Drive) at 7 p.m. Free… The Gilbert Castellanos Trio with Rob Thorsen and Joshua White play the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) from 8 to 11p.m. $20 food/drink minimum… Violinist Jamie Shadowlight plays the music of Michel Legrand at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) with Mikan Zlatkovich, Katie Thiroux, and Matt Witek at 8 p.m. $15 at the door.

Saturday 30
Allison Adams Tucker presents Spring Into Jazz with Mikan Zlatkovich and Antar Martin at the Westgate Hotel from 8 to 11 p.m. No cover, $20 food/drink minimum… The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez play La Valencia Hotel (1132 Prospect) from 6 to 10 p.m. No cover.

Sunday 1
The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Ed Kornhauser and Mack Leighton host the Sunday jam session at 98 Bottles from 2:30 to 5 p.m. 21+, no cover charge.
