Wednesday 23
Nexus 4000, featuring Gabriel Sundy, Gabriel Wolf, Nate Jarrell, Grant Fisher, Ed Kornhauser, Mack Leighton, and Charlie Weller play the Whistle Stop (2236 Fern Street) at 9 p.m. No cover… Gilbert Castellanos presents the Young Lions Series, this week featuring Kate Sprague with Peter and Tripp Sprague at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) where the music starts at 6 p.m. All ages, no cover.

Thursday 24
The AAA Jazz Celebration Series, with Amber Whitlock, pays tribute to Peggy Lee and Blossom Dearie at Northern Spirits Jazz Club (727 West San Marcos Boulevard), with Rob Whitlock and Charles Weller from 7 to 10 p.m. No cover, no minimum.

Friday 25
Lori Bell, Ron Satterfield, and Tommy Aros, a.k.a. Trio de Janeiro, play at the La Jolla Community Center (6811 La Jolla Boulevard) at 7:30 p.m. call 858-459-0831 for tickets; $23 includes appetizers and valet parking… Gilbert Castellanos joins Joshua White and Marshall Hawkins at the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) at 8 p.m. $20 food/drink minimum... Trumpeter Curtis Taylor hits the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) with Ed Kornhauser and Mack Leighton at 5:30 p.m. No cover, no minimum, validated parking.

The Mikan Zlatkovich Trio with Katie Thiroux, Matt Witek, Lori Bell, and Jamie Shadowlight play the Brooks Theatre in Oceanside (217 North Coast Highway) at 8 p.m. $15 at the door… The Gabriel Sundy Jazz Trio, with Doug Walker and Dave Pschaida, play Panama 66 at 7 p.m. No cover… Son Pa Ti with Alex Lopez. Mark Lopez, Michael Bento, John Ross, Eduardo Parra, and Patty Evans play Tower 13 (2633 South Coast Highway 101) 8:30 p.m. No cover… The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble with Tim Felten, Jesse Audelo, Robert Dove, Matthew LaBarber, Pete Williams, Kiko Cornejo, Nicholas Costa, and Sheryll Pasis play the 34th Annual Adams Avenue Street Fair. Also runs Sunday. Christopher Hollyday hosts the Alto Saxophone Summit with Charlie Arbelaez and Dick McGuane, plus Jason Shattil, Ben Wanicur, and Bob Weller play Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) 8 p.m. $20, all ages.

The Mark Dresser Septet unveils brand-new music featuring David Morales Boroff, Marty Ehrlich, Nicole Mitchell, Michael Dessen, Kjell Nordeson, and Joshua White at TSRI (10620 John Jay Hopkins Drive) at 7:30 p.m. $35 nonmembers, $30 members, $15 student rush… The Downbeat Big Band play Queen Bees (3925 Ohio Street) from 4 to 6 p.m. $15 at the door… Northern Spirits Jazz Club hosts a jam session featuring Leonard Patton, Amber Whitlock, Rob Whitlock, and Duncan Moore from 5 to 8 p.m. No cover.
