The Crypt, a sex toy/fetish shop at 3847 Park Boulevard, has shut its doors. Today an eviction notice was seen on the front door of the establishment.

The “pay rent or surrender possession” document indicates that Crypto Technology Corp. owes landlord Park Boulevard Associates a total of $12,311 for unpaid rent (August and September), plus late fees. The September rent by itself was $5582.

The Crypt was a member of the Hillcrest Business Association, said executive director Benjamin Nicholls on September 18. “It's disappointing to see such a neighborhood staple go out of business,” Nicholls emailed. “I had hoped that they would be able to take advantage of the general revival of Park Blvd. that is going on around them.”

The Greater San Diego Business Association, the gay chamber of commerce in Hillcrest, does not show The Crypt nor Crypto Technology Corp. in its membership directory. The Crypt's website, is a dead link.

The Crypt is also the name of a similar store at 4094 30th Street, in North Park. A phone call to their number did not go through.

The Salespider website says the president of the Hillcrest business is Alicia Gervasi. Estimated store revenue was $340,000. Intelius reports Gervasi (also known as Alicia Saunders) is “operations manager” at Crypto Technology Corp.

According to the California Secretary of State website, the agent for service of process “resigned on 08/03/2015.”
