New local releases this week include an EP from retro-rockers Bangladesh, an EP by folksy singer-songwriter Jay Chu called Change, and Sight Unscene’s punk-heavy Noise We Don’t Hear CD. Scott Samuels’s Live at Uncommon Ground album archives a May 2014 show in Chicago and features bassist Dave Hartmann, along with guests Bill McDowell on electric guitar and Scott Carlton on flute.

Power-pop new-wavers Neon Cough will debut a new CD on Saturday, September 27, at the Soda Bar in City Heights, on a bill that also includes Brando. Pop-twang singer-songwriter Josh Damigo drops his new full-length, I Will Be There, on October 2 at House of Blues downtown, with Nancarrow opening. The lead single “Just Give Me a Call” is available online. The four CSNY-loving songwriters of Berkley Hart Selis Twang will play an October 11 release party for their debut album The First Waltz at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.

Also on October 11, the Long and Short of It (celebrating their tenth year) will hit the Soda Bar to unveil their first album since 2009, Burl. “We’re releasing it on vinyl with a CD included in the packaging,” says bassist Brian Barrabee. “Attendees can expect us to play the whole album first, and then maybe a couple of songs from our last full-length at the end of the set.”

Zombie Barbie, featuring music by Mark Haemmerle (Starcrossed, Kitty Plague) and lyrics by singer/actress Jovi Olives, is debuting their Electrostatic Hallucinations full-length on October 16 at the Merrow in Hillcrest. “There will be acrobats, a light show, a DJ in between the sets, and a band fronted by a robot, Satanic Puppeteer Orchestra,” says Haemmerle. “Not only that, but it’s also a double-birthday celebration for both me and Jovi.”
