Downtown jailbreak

Last seen in khaki shorts, slippers, and a blue shirt with a large star on it

Authorities were on the lookout Tuesday evening, December 9, for a 26-year-old that managed to escape from downtown's Central Jail shortly before 6 p.m.

Don Andrea Torrillo was arrested in Santee on September 5 for charges including possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs for sale, and being under the influence of drugs.

San Diego sheriff's deputies in charge of security at the jail say they're still unsure as to how Torrillo escaped. An investigation is ongoing.

Torrillo is described as standing 5'9", weighing 150 pounds, and having brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his left bicep. He was last seen wearing jail-issued garments, including khaki shorts, slippers, and a blue shirt with a large star in the center. He's known to frequent the East County communities of Santee, El Cajon, and Rancho San Diego, which is where authorities are concentrating their search.

Torrillo was captured at an El Cajon area Motel 6 on Wednesday evening...

Surprised he made it that far considering he was in jailhouse duds and it was still daylight when he took the walk.
