Former mayor's lobbyist fined

Illegal donation made to Jerry Sanders's 2005 campaign

The California Fair Political Practices Commission has fined Arizona lobbyist Gary Husk $5000 for an illegal contribution to the 2005 campaign of candidate Jerry Sanders, who went on to become mayor.

Husk, former lobbyist for the Holiday Bowl, claims an employee of a now-defunct firm gave $300 to Sanders and Husk just wants to put the matter behind him, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. Husk has been in trouble for his dubious activities while lobbyist for the Holiday Bowl.

OOPS: Husk was lobbyist for the Fiesta Bowl, not the Holiday Bowl. Mea culpa. Best, Don Bauder

Ricky Young: Aren't you one of the editors of the U-T? You really have chutzpah -- bordering, perhaps, on something pathological. I regularly post something and then wait two days until the U-T picks it up without crediting the source. This has been going on for a long time, and you must be aware of it. Best, Don Bauder
