Ron Paul Criticizes DEA for Lockup of UCSD Student

Presidential candidate Ron Paul paid a visit to the UCSD campus on the evening of May 4, attracting an estimated 3500 supporters, mostly students.

UCSD’s Youth for Ron Paul group invited the Texas Republican to the Torrey Pines campus. He gave his standard one-hour-long stump speech amid cries of "President Paul" from the admiring crowd. He railed against the Federal Reserve and America's penchant for living beyond its means with deficit spending. He declared that we alienate the world with our aggressive behavior and endorsed a foreign policy based on "not bombs and intimidation but friendship and trade." He said it's time to eliminate the sanctions against Cuba because "the Cold War is over."

Another popular Paul sentiment: "The war on drugs is much more dangerous to our liberties than the drugs themselves." Paul criticized the DEA for recently locking up a UCSD student and then forgetting about him for several days.

who isn't Criticizes DEA for that, what they did was down right irresponsible.

Prohibitionists, you have the blood of thousands of innocent people on your hands!

Most of us know that individuals who use illegal drugs are going to get high - no matter what, so why do you not prefer they acquire them in stores that check IDs and pay taxes? Even if we could afford to put Narcs on every single corner, at least half of them would soon become dealers themselves. Gifting the market in narcotics to ruthless criminals, foreign terrorists and corrupt law enforcement officials is seriously compromising our future.

Why do you wish to continue with a policy that has proven itself to be a poison in the veins of our once so proud & free nation? Even if you cannot bear the thought of people using drugs, there is absolutely nothing you, or any government, can do to stop them. We have spent 40 years and trillions of dollars on this dangerous farce; Prohibition will not suddenly and miraculously start showing different results. Do you actually believe you may personally have something to lose If we were to begin basing our drug policy on science & logic instead of ignorance, hate and lies?

Maybe you're a police officer, a prison guard or a local/national politician. Possibly you're scared of losing employment, overtime-pay, the many kick-backs and those regular fat bribes. But what good will any of that do you once our society has followed Mexico over the dystopian abyss of dismembered bodies, vats of acid and marauding thugs carrying gold-plated AK-47s with leopard-skinned gunstocks?

Kindly allow us to forgo the next level of your sycophantic prohibition-engendered mayhem.

Prohibition Prevents Regulation : Legalize, Regulate and Tax!

I say that prohibition has its roots in Puritanism. I like the old saying that a Puritan is a person who is upset by the notion that someone somewhere is having a good time.

The notion that legalizing will cause mass addiction is ludicrous. Just taking myself as an example, I wouldn't use heroine if you gave it to me, but I don't care if you use it.

The CIA has been running drugs for decades...this has been proven and there are plenty of you tube videos that document it...go online and search for the truth...It is time to end the scam and legalize drugs....

Must be a registered Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul in the primary:
