Christian Evangelists Attend Comic-Con

A group of about 30 Christian Fundamentalists holding signs spread out near the Convention Center on Friday morning, July 13.

While waiting to cross Harbor Drive, I struck up a conversation with Joshua, who told me he was a "Christian from Korea." The gentle demeanor of Joshua proved handy, as he told me that Comic-Con attendees walking by "shouted slurs and insults at him." Chief among their comments was that many "churches are against homosexuals getting married."

As I spoke with Joshua, I could hear shouts of "Heaven? Or Hell?" from his co-evangelizers. He told me that not many people were taking the free religious pamphlets and "Jesus Christ: The Real Story" booklets being offered.

Comic Con is a well established religion. Believe it.

It sounds like they were as welcomed as a bunch of crazed Scientologists trying to crash a Katie Holmes family BBQ!

I can't think of a better place for these religious crackpots to be. After all, all religions exist within their own particular fantasy land. Why not recognize the leaders as the original Super Heroes? May the force be with you. Amen.
