Dear Matt: Every time I talk on the phone, my cat rubs against my legs and gets in my face and generally makes a nuisance of herself. What is it about the telephone that she likes? She might not even be in the same room when I start talking, but she'll track me down and start pestering me. She's not hungry. There’s plenty offood out for her. Why is she doing this? What is it she wants? — Kitty Whipped, La Mesa
There’s an outside chance she’d like her own phone. But probably she doesn’t know a telephone from a blender or a doorstop. She’s responding to your voice. You’re talking; kitty doesn’t see anybody else around, so you must be talking to her. Cat logic is elusive, but based on my consultations, that’s our best guess.
