Synopsis

Underimagined fairy tale about the runt of the household who gets accidentally left behind when the family takes off for France, fends for himself, fends off burglars (à la Dustin Hoffman in Straw Dogs), grows, in short, into a little man. It might just have worked if the filmmakers had spent as much thought on what a kid could actually get into and get out of as they did on what would get kids into a movie theater (e.g., "Don't you know how to knock, phlegm-wad!?"). Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara; directed by Chris Columbus.
