Some productions are so powerful and well detailed they leave the viewer with one response. "Wow!" The North Coast Rep's offering of the John Steinbeck classic is such a piece. The tale of two cousins who drift through life as ranch hands with a dream is told with masterful clarity. Jacob Sidney, as diamond-in-the-rough George, and Nicholas Mongalardo-Cooper, as gentle, slow-witted Lennie, create a seamless tapestry of familial devotion and male loyalty, staving off loneliness in their own unique way. A true highlight is John Greenleaf's memorable Candy, the old injured ranch hand. Director Richard Baird's insightful eye delves deep into the heart of this play. Critic's Pick.
