January-February Art Exhibits

Where: Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, 1008 Wall Street, San Diego

Cost: Free

Age limit: All ages

Ongoing: until Saturday, March 9, 2019

The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library is pleased to announce the exhibitions for January and February of 2019. In the Joseph Clayes III Gallery we will be exhibiting “Beyond Blue—Mavi—Ma Vie,” featuring the works of Beliz Iristay and Irène de Watteville. The two female ceramicists, one from Turkey and one from France, will collaborate in a provocative and surrealist installation. One of their foci is the traditional Iznik and French blue glaze of their native countries. In this joint exhibition they explore beyond the color of the title, with each showing their personal creative clay works. In the Rotunda Gallery, we will honor the late book artist Genie Shenk with an exhibition of her artist’s books. The exhibits will be on display from January 12 through March 9. Please see our website for more details on the exhibits and the hours that the library is open.
