Guided Hike: Homestead Trail
Take a gander into Julian history to Eagle Peak Ranch's historic homestead property! As the crow flies, this may seem like a reasonably short distance hike, but it packs in some steep elevation gain to get the blood flowing! The Homestead Trail will take us through a hillside of head high scrub dominated by ceanothus and manzanita to the grassland of the homestead property. The grass will be greener on the other side, expect the photosynthesis and chlorophyll to be blanketing the floor with green grass! Homestead Trail: • Distance (Roundtrip): ~3 miles • Elevation Change: +537, -144 (feet) • Difficulty: Easy to moderate How to Prepare: • Bring at least 2 liters of water. • Wear sturdy hiking shoes and sun protection to keep yourself comfortable. • Poison oak is present, so long pants are recommended. • Pack a sack lunch or snack. • Dogs are not allowed. • This hike is not kid-friendly.
