Festival of Science & Engineering
The 11th annual San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering, presented by the Illumina Foundation, is returning for its highly anticipated EXPO DAY! The festival, hosted by the Biocom Institute, once again begins with the family-favorite EXPO DAY on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at PETCO Park. EXPO DAY is the official kick-off celebration for Festival Week featuring hundreds of exhibitors and provides attendees a preview of what’s to come to San Diego county businesses, schools, libraries, and museums throughout Festival Week. EXPO DAY is free and open to the public. In 2018, the Festival saw 24,000 children, parents, and science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) enthusiasts in attendance. After EXPO DAY the fun continues with Festival Week (March 3rd-10th) – eight days of learning, fun hands-on activities, innovation, and behind-the-scenes opportunities for K-12th grade students- as well as adults and families- all to help ignite a passion for STEAM! Most events are free and open to the public. More than 65,000 are expected to participate throughout Festival Week by visiting EXPO DAY and Festival Week events. A program of the Biocom Institute, and presented by the Illumina Foundation, the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering encourages and engages youth in STEAM, and solidifies San Diego County’s reputation as a leader in the STEAM industry. By hosting events and activities throughout our communities and neighborhoods, the Festival demonstrates how STEAM opportunities are right here in our “backyard,” and offers something for STEAM lovers of all ages.
