The Barbara & William Karatz Chamber Series presents cellist Thomas Mesa performing with pianist Ilya Yakushev, winner of the 2005 World Piano Competition. An enthusiastic interpreter of music for choir and cello, Thomas Mesa was a featured instrumentalist on the Philadelphia-based chamber choir. Mesa is also a much-in-demand teaching artist and leads master classes at many prestigious universities and colleges of music. Ilya Yakushev attended the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in his native St. Petersburg, Russian, and traveled to New York to attend Manes College of Music. Since then, in addition to his recitals, he has soloed with numerous orchestras across the United States and abroad.
