Culture & Cocktails: Legends & Voyages
Culture & Cocktails will be themed Legends & Voyages after the Museum’s three magnificent panels by José María Sert (1874-1945). The panels were recently gifted to the Museum by the Silver family and will be unveiled the week of February 18. Painted by one of the greatest Spanish muralists, these panels illustrate three episodes of Sinbad the Sailor’s seven epic voyages. Sert was a Catalan muralist who specialized in transformative decoration of the grand homes and palaces of patrons such as the Barons de Rothschild, the Dukes of Alba, Juan March, Coco Chanel and many other affluent clientele. He is best-known for his commissioned mural, American Progress, painted for Rockefeller Center in New York.
In addition to the debut of these panels, party goers can look forward to:
- Watching whimsical mermaid siren performers
- Participating in message in a bottle jewelry making
- Showing off their best sailor pose in the High Seas Photo Booth
- Dancing to the beat of DG Gabe Vega
