Daryl Sherman
Equally at home in the world of jazz and cabaret, singer/pianist Daryl Sherman has been a longtime sparkling mainstay of Manhattan nightlife. She can play, improvise, sing and swing with the best of them. Just as special is her tantalizing mix of standards, forgotten gems and originals – all strongly conveying the essence of each lyric as if she had personally lived it. For her debut at Martinis Above Fourth, Daryl is joined by stellar bassist Rob Thorsen, and they will serve up a potpourri from master wordsmiths Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin, Larry Hart, Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jimmy Webb and songs from Daryl’s new CD Lost In A Crowded Place. Someone once said “without the lyricists we’d all be hummers.” Daryl Sherman would rather take a chance feeling “bewitched, bothered and bewildered!”
