Pastel Masters Demo
Master Pastelists Demonstrating Specialities Sunday, August 4, 2019 CHRISTINE BOWMAN, MINNIE VALERO and KRENTZ JOHNSON will show their approach to painting landscapes out-of-doors Sunday August 4. The demonstration will address such topics as: selection of a location, using the right equipment, achieving fresh sketches, and successful ways to participate in “paint-outs”. The Pastel Society of San Diego will offer this chance to hear three award winning pastelists discuss their approach to painting pastel masterpieces “en plein air”. Pastel is pure pigment mixed with a binder and presents its own challenges even in an artist’s studio, but painting outside brings a whole new dimension of issues. This chance to watch, and ask questions of, such esteemed pastelists as BOWMAN, VALERO & JOHNSON is a rare opportunity. The Pastel Society of San Diego was established in 1983. They offer occasional classes, support school programs and provide recognition for pastel artists at the Del Mar San Diego County Fair. They encourage pastel artists and students (or want-to-be-students) of all ages, providing instructional quarterly meetings and fellowship. The August meeting will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 Sunday, August 4 at the Mission Valley Library 2123 Fenton Parkway 92108 - next to Ikea. The event is FREE and open to the public. All ages welcome & encouraged. for more information, contact Susan Mae Hull [email protected] (619) 563-0082
