City Ballet Presents Carmina Burana
Carmina Burana is set in Manhattan Island, New York City in 1929. The beating heart of the city is the Edison stock ticker. Bankers and brokers swing their chorus girls to the lively jazz band as their wives raise their children at home. The World Premiere of Geoffrey Gonzalez’s Carmina Burana, based on true events, will transport the audience to a tragic moment in American history. The end of the roaring 20’s and the beginning of the greatest financial crisis of the 20th century. Examining closely a story of how the temptations of the era lead to one losing everything and being collected by the Empress of Fortune. Program also includes Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp. May 11th - 13th. On-stage champagne reception option after Saturday performance.
