Jefferson Jay and Israel Maldonado
The Acoustic Evenings series showcases local acoustic musicians. Multiple performers are featured in each program and are available at the intermission reception and post-concert meet-and-greet. The project advances the Athenaeum’s commitment to support San Diego talent. The Athenaeum Music & Arts library continues with the fall 2017 Acoustic Evenings series, tonight with Jefferson Jay and Israel Maldonado paying tribute to Don Truesdail. Don Truesdail was a singer/guitarist and well-known musical educator who played the inaugural Acoustic Evenings series in 2008, but was unfortunately killed in a freeway accident in 2009. His legacy of songs is kept alive by his friends. Jefferson Jay has been involved with the Acoustic Evenings at the Athenaeum since its inception and is known for his “Operation 365” in which he posted 3 new musical videos a day for an entire year. Israel Maldonado, a Tijuana native, has sparked enthusiasm locally for bringing his blend of Latin and modern music to San Diego.
