Dornob Collective, Rob Deez, Jeffrey Joe Morin
The Acoustic Evenings series at the Athenaeum showcases local, San Diego acoustic musicians. Three performers are featured in each program and are available at the intermission reception and post-concert meet-and-greet. The project advances the Athenaeum’s commitment to support San Diego talent. The spring series begins with Dornob Collective, Rob Deez, and Jeffrey Joe Morin. Dornob is a collective of musicians that has been playing Persian music in San Diego since 1985. The members’ goals, in addition to friendship and fun, include learning the Persian musical tradition, fostering creativity, and crossing cultural bridges. Rob Deez, a self-professed “comedic singer-songrhymer,” who performs on the acoustic guitar, appeals to many different audiences with his improvising talents. Jeffrey Joe Morin is steeped in the blues, jazz, swing, honky-tonk, and R&B. He performs acoustic guitar renditions of standards and of his own wry and romantic songs.
