Them Other Humans!

I was watching the movie THE ISLAND recently. Its the movie about clones starring Ewan McGregor. It was actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Anyway, it got me thinking; what will happen when we really start cloning humans?

It will happen eventually because there is too much money that can come from it, for all the obvious reasons; body parts and so on.

I got in a debate at work with one of my friends who is very religious. And I asked him, as a person, would he consider a clone 100% human? He said no. Our other friend, from Iran, a real cool dude I might, also said he would not consider a clone real person.

Those who read sci-fi are or are fans of sci-fi shows like STAR TREK or STARGATE may be more open minded to the day when cloning becomes more than a sci-fi cliché. I have recently heard that the international court, whatever that is, has already started to put some thought to this issue.

I hope they do. Because if the mentality is out there that these people are not really humans then all those arguments about slavery could be revisited.

Do you think cloning, and how clones are treated, will be a major stumbling block for humanity? Or will it never reach that point and clones will be accepted as real people.
