Romantic evenings are often punctuated by gazing into the sparkling night sky. Whether it is a walk around the busy nightlife of the city, or a relaxing candlelit dinner outside, the perfect atmosphere of a clear starry night is ideal for love. It is also the perfect way to enjoy food, drink, and art at “Starry Nights at Stella” presented by Jonny Mars and Thumbprint Gallery with local artist Jono Shakespeare as host. Stella La Jolla is a new restaurant featuring great foods from Italy in an enjoyable cocktail lounge atmosphere. La Jolla, and its famous beaches, is a perfect location for enjoying fine dining and great art. The event starts at 5pm on Friday, May 24.
One of the artists participating in event, David Goff, became a part of the growing art community in San Diego after his move from his hometown of Philadelphia. He is most skilled in carpentry and construction which gives him an edge when working on sculptures. He also is a painter, and many of his influences come from pop art and pin-up artists like that of Warhol and Vargas. He has worked with San Diego Art Link and Thumbprint Gallery in archiving several years worth of local art shows and events.
Another participating artist is Lindsey Denhof who was exposed to the art scene in Seattle from an early age before moving to the warmer weather of SoCal. She is involved in many artistic pursuits from guitar and singing to poetry and dramatic performance. Her art style is reminiscent of clean pop-art style lines and bright colors. Art is a way for her to express certain emotions that are clearer with paint than with words. She works with other very talented artists in Temecula, CA called “The Collective.”
Other artists participating include Nicholas Johnson and Mofo. There will also be music by DJ Kombat and Chuy Fresno. There is no cover and will be open to the public. The event will run from 5pm to 11pm. Stella La Jolla is located at 8008 Girard Ave. in La Jolla.
