Crow's Pose

I started practicing yoga about a year ago and have yet to master the Crow's Pose. The pose, or asana in Sanskrit, strengthens the arms, wrists, abdominal muscles, and opens the groins and upper back. The pose requires that the body contract with the heels tucked tight against the buttocks. The shins nestle into the arm pits and the pelvis lifts. It's not an easy pose especially if you're scared of falling.

Liza DiGaetano teaches Bakasana: Getting into Crow's Pose on Sunday, July 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Little Yoga Studio (702 Ash St). The workshop costs $30-35 and is aimed at helping students overcome their fear and practice getting into the Crow's Pose correctly. Liza DiGaetano has been teaching yoga since 2003 and teaches a very advanced class on Wednesdays at TLYS. She is a part of Tripsichore, a yoga performance troupe. Check out her yoga demo.
