Do Anything at Space 4 Art - Including Alien Genitalia.

Synchronized with the start of Comic Con, the downtown gallery Space 4 Art will be hosting a related event entitled Do Anything.

The Show includes a screening of Strange Attractors: Investigations in Non-Humanoid Extraterrestrial Sexualities, a 120 minute DVD which accompanies a book of the same title, jointly published by Encyclopedia Destructica and The Institute of Extraterrestrial Sexuality.

The group of 70 artists, writers and film-makers involved in Strange Attractors, explore the idea of other-worldly sexual practices, genders, and genitalia. Aside from the screening on opening night (this Friday), the films will be played on a continuous loop in the gallery of Space 4 Art.

Do Anything will also include a panel discussion on Sunday, featuring comic-artists Ed Piskor (creator of the graphic novel, Wizzywig and the web-comic Brain Rot), and Ed Luce (creator of the comic books Wuvable Oaf and Henry & Glenn Forever & Ever). Luce was recently included in the new comics anthology: No Straight Lines: Four Decades of Queer Comics. Both Piskor and Luce will also be at Comic Con promoting their work.

The curator of Do Anything, Christopher Kardambiks says, “This show is a really amazing collection of work and anyone who has an interest in print or publications would be interested in this. It's great strength is the breadth and depth of material and different territories it navigates. It's not just comic work that's on display - it's a collection of artists and writers who have alternative printing and publication practices.”

“What's really interesting about a place like Space 4 Art is the ability to have work from outside San Diego exist in the same place as so many San Diego artists. The majority of people in the show are from outside of San Diego. In addition to individual artists, there are 3 collectives or collaborative projects: Unicorn Mountain, Justseeds, and Strange Attractors that are presenting work from artists and writers that are from all over the place. This is a show that has a national reach.”

Do Anything will simultaneously be hosted at the gallery/art-shop Double Break, in Banker's Hill, exhibiting new zines by: Josh Atlas, Jessica Greenfield, Ben Hernstrom, Jennifer Murray, and Jessica Vaughn.
