Robber described as looking 17 and high as a kite

An 18 year old man was arrested Monday night January 21, on suspicion of robbing the Imperial Beach Pharmacy at 720 State Route 75 near 7th Street. The man according to witnesses walked into pharmacy just minutes before closing pointed a gun at the cashier and said "Give me all the money in the register." The store manager hearing a disturbance went to the front of the store and saw several customers lying on the floor. The manager asked what was going on and the robber pointed the gun at her head and said "Money." The manager then told the cashier "What are you waiting for? Give him the money." Sgt. Joel Stranger with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said a man matching the description given by witnesses was arrested shortly afterwards on 7th Street and quickly confessed and some of the $169 in cash taken in the pharmacy robbery was recovered. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered and was identified as a pellet gun. The pharmacy manager was overheard describing the robber as looking 17 and “high as a kite.”
