San Diego Beer Week: Day Ten

Make the best of the final day of the San Diego Beer 10-Day with these meet-the-brewer events

Sunday, November 11

It’s the last day of San Diego Beer Week. The last chance to get all those special beers and submerge yourself in San Diego’s craft suds culture. If you haven’t met or hung out with a brewer yet, what are you waiting for? Here are four more opportunities.

11 a.m. – Brunch with Brandon No, not me. A Brandon who creates exceptional beer as opposed to a Brandon who writes about people who create exceptional beer. Join Brandon Siemniski, the head brewer of Vista’s Iron Fist Brewing Company for beer, brunch, and NFL football as Churchill’s Pub (887 West San Marcos Boulevard, San Marcos) closes out Beer Week with a crafty close encounter.

12 p.m. – Beer Garden Craft beer goes upscale at the official closing event of Beer Week—a grand scale food-and-beer-pairing event on the ocean-overlooking back lawn of The Lodge at Torrey Pines (11480 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla). 11 big-name local chefs are cooking up specialty dishes to pair with beers from 22 San Diego breweries. Saying good-bye is hard…but this makes it easier.

1 p.m. – Green Flash Perfect 10 All through Beer Week, Green Flash Brewing Company is offering recreations of beers brewed for each of their 10 anniversary festivals. Can’t make it to Mira Mesa…or just can’t make it there every day? Here’s a fun Plan B. Hit Hamilton’s Tavern (1521 30th Street, South Park) and try them all—provided kegs don’t blow before you can—with brewmaster Chuck Silva and his crew.

6:30 p.m. – Lost Abbey Box Set Tasting This year, The Lost Abbey crafted 12 barrel-aged beers that went far outside the traditional brewing box and made for special beers that were truly special. They are being offered via lottery as a box set retailing at $450. Here, you can taste 10 of them with food pairings and anecdotes from brewer Tomme Arthur for a lot less at O’Brien’s Pub (4646 Convoy Street, Kearny Mesa).

With literally hundreds of events, no one writer can give you the goods on all of the fun stuff happening. I encourage anybody looking to have the ultimate Beer Week experience to visit the San Diego Brewers Guild’s official SDBW website, and also check in with some of their favorite breweries, watering holes, and restaurants to see what’s going on. There will be incredible events happening all over the county and you wouldn’t want to miss one that’s perfect for your personal tastes. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy Beer Week!
